The Weekend Wrap-Up (in pictures)

We had a long 3-day weekend. How come they are NEVER long enough???

First time I managed to get a pic of her "sitting up". She was in the process of falling I think, but at least she knew to catch herself with her hands.

Who's Feeding Me?

Jason fed Olivia her cereal for the first time the other night. She KNEW the difference for sure. When she saw him with the bowl, she just looked at me like "what's going on?". So sweet....but he hasn't done it again. I guess once was enough for him! I think he realized that it's not as easy as it looks...not at this point anyway!


I just love all of her facial expressions. I don't even really need for her to be able to talk to tell me what she's thinking...her face usually tells all!

Happy Independence Day!

We've had a fairly low-key 3 day weekend thus far. We went to a friend's house Friday night for an early celebration of the 4th. Today we hung out around the house, ran a few errands, and had some great Mexican food. No fireworks, no hot dogs, no hamburgers, no watermelon, no sunburns.....just the three of us spending some time together. We are planning on church in the morning and lunch with Mitch and Ashley. Hopefully we'll then get a Sunday afternoon nap! Hey, a girl can dream, can't she??

This is something she's started this weekend...she makes a "kissing" sound. I love watching her mouth when she does it....she seems so proud after she makes the noise, like she realizes she has done something new. I think she's a genious and already "blowing kisses"! :)

Sunday FUNday?

Ok, well, maybe we didn't have an overly exciting Sunday, but that was my goal....and we succeeded! Jason's mom (pending "grandma name") came over for a while this morning, but other than that, we didn't do a thing but hang out and play. AND I GOT TO TAKE A NAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was probably about an hour long, and it was fabulous! After this past week of ZERO sleep, the nap was much needed!

Watching a "Praise Baby" DVD.....she is glued the second I turn it on. The video part is pretty blah, but it's all Praise & Worship music, so it's at least nice to listen to for the mommies!

It's a 4 day work week, so it will at least be a short one!

Third time a charm? NOPE!

We've decided to start Olivia on cereal again, and we're going to stick with it this time since she is getting pretty close to 6 months. Whether she wants to or not, she needs to learn how to eat solids. We've "eaten" cereal for three nights now, and she MIGHT have actually eaten 3-4 spoonfuls. She has A-T-T-I-T-U-D-E about it! Between her father and I, I have NO idea where she gets it! The first night she refused to open her mouth. She kept her lips extremely tight. There was no way I could force the spoon in there. She has gotten slightly better, but this may take a while for her to fully give in! I can't wait for the day that she decides food is fun!

Just a swingin'

Olivia just had a little travel swing, which she has loved and lived in. We have taken that little swing everywhere. I'm sad to say that she has outgrown her swing. With her new stomach muscles, she's able to wiggle around quite a bit in it and the little safety strap around her waste just isn't enough anymore. She had also developed this new habit of relaxing with her feet propped up on the bars and has gotten them somewhat stuck numerous times. Needless to say I didn't find this safe!

KEEP YOUR ARMS AND FEET IN THE RIDE AT ALL TIMES!!!

Here's the first new swing I bought. It was also a travel swing, but it had shoulder harnesses, so I felt it would be safer. Um, no...this swing was crazy! She was sitting almost upright and when it was swinging, I swear she was going to fall out! She's even hanging on for dear life in his picture! HA! This one went back to the store!

And here's the one we decided to keep. It's not a travel swing, which I'm going to miss, but it is good for up to 30 pounds, has a reclining or upright position and plays music! BUT I don't think it could possibly be much uglier! At least the old one was was small and ugly! This thing takes up half the living room and is ugly! When I first found out I was pregnant and started buying stuff for the house, I was very concerned that it was all somewhat neutral so it would coordinate with my house. I realize now how truly unrealistic I was being.

Father's Day

Well, I'm nearly a week behind in posting, but it's just been one heck of a week! Olivia hasn't been sleeping again, so we've been coming home, doing bare minimum, and going to bed early! Last night seemed to be a LITTLE better, so I'm hoping for an even better night tonight. I've pretty much survived on an average of 3 hours/night this week...and they are very broken hours, which I think is even worse.

We really didn't do much for Father's Day. Jason slept in a little and we pretty much just hung out around the house all day, then went to his mom's house that evening for dinner. That's about it! Not a lot to tell...which sometimes, is a good thing!

Nicole and Hudson came to visit Saturday, which happened to be when Olivia turned 5 months old (Happy 5 month Birthday Livi!). We had lunch at Rosa's, did a little shopping and then came back to the house to let the kiddos play. Nicole said she puts Olivia's picture up on the computer at home and he just talks and talks to her. She showed me a video of him sitting in his Bumbo looking at her on the screen and it was so cute. He was very vocal and excited to be talking to her!

Hats off to people who are able to take decent pictures of multiple babies. As these two have gotten older, it's gotten much more difficult to get them both looking at the camera, or even in the general direction of the camera!

It's Only A Matter of Time

Olivia has started raising up big on her arms and has been trying to get up on her knees. I caught a couple of pics yesterday when she was playing with baby Hudson. I know it will still be a while before actual scooting and crawling take place, but it still amazes me that my baby is getting so big!!

And she crashed...I think this ended in a roll.

Layoffs and Hair Loss

So today was not the best for me at work. We had an 8 o'clock meeting this morning, which resulted in 93 people being laid off and 17 people staying. Luckily, I was among the 17, but the news came with very mixed feelings. On one hand, I'm glad I was saved (for this round anyway). On the other, I have several friends that were affected. I am by far one of the "newbies", and I have nearly 6 years under my belt. Most people I work with have been there for 10+ years, so I know it is going to be difficult when they leave.

I don't think it's possible for me to post a blog without a picture, so here's a couple to look at! People always tell me "oh, she has so much hair". Well, I suppose she does still have some; however, it's nothing compared to what she had for her first few weeks of life! It has really started to fall out a lot! I wonder at what age it starts growing back again? Hmmm.....

I already get sad looking at "Baby" pictures! They grow too fast!
